I’m excited! Why? Well, come October 21st (my birthday), you’re going to see a new 1570... and quite frankly, it’s going to blow you away! I know that’s a large-format promise, but if you could see what’s happening backstage right now, I think you’d agree with my optimism. On the other side of the coin, I’d like to take a moment to apologize for what may appear like lack of participation or maintenance to the existing content. Rest assured I am here -- monitoring posts, processing Communication Center registration requests, etc. Industry Directory additions have been temporarily suspended while the new system is put into place, but Communication Center logins are still being issued. Although a tiny ethical issue prevents me from being able to share the reported hit statistics of the IMAX Affiliates site, 1570.com has served over 20 times the number of pages seen on the IMAX Affiliate site over the last year (the same period the IMAX site has been in existence). Don’t get me wrong... I fully support IMAX’s efforts to create and maintain an online forum for it’s clients, but your continued participation on 1570.com demonstrates how valuable an open industry forum can be. So, what’s in store for the new site? Well, you’ve already heard me ramble about: Enhanced search capabilities Automatic Registration with E-mail Confirmation Enhanced Communication Center Industry Links Film Resources Library (press releases, logos, clipart, etc.) New look for the site What you haven’t heard me talk about is: New Partnerships with Industry Professionals Enhanced Security/Privacy Features Buyers' Club (discounted supplies) and something very, very, cool... that I’m keeping secret And of course, in keeping with the commitment I made to myself when I first started 1570.com, the site will remain accessible to individuals involved in the 15perf/70mm industry at no charge.* If you have any suggestions for content you’d like to see online, please let me know. I want 1570.com to be your one-stop-shop for industry communication.Have a great day! - FilmJockey * Corporate sponsorship will help supplement the new site. Write for details. |

| Brian: you must be more careful with what you type. It took me a few panicked seconds of reading to realize you were referring to your Website. At first I thought you meant a new company to compete with Imax and Iwerks, or yet another new technological twist to the format. I thought, "Oh, great! It's bad enough to have a 2D Dome and play second fiddle to flat screen, 3D, and entertainment-oriented multiplexes--don't tell me someone just unveiled ANOTHER technology to push me farther down the food chain!!" Yikes! That's what I get for one of my 3:30a posts. Hehe. My apology for the poor wording. Let me make it clear that I'm not getting into the 15/70 hardware business... just taking this Web site to the next level. |

I was confused too when I first saw the title of this new thread. Well, it looks as if there IS another 15/70 vendor about to re-appear with a different and proprietary approach to the 15/70 projector. Rumor is that it is coming from a certain well-to-do California-based poperty developer who once took a crack at this industry in the late 80's. Stay tuned.... |
