FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Contact: Susan Murrow (301) 771-5432 Discovery Networks Mark Katz (203) 661-5678 nWave Pictures February 8, 2000 THE HUMAN BODY SET FOR THE GIANT SCREEN DISCOVERY NETWORKS, U.S. AND BBC ANNOUNCE LARGE FORMAT COLLABORATION nWave Pictures Will Distribute Film Worldwide Following the national and international television success of Intimate Universe: The Human Body, which aired on the BBC and on TLC in the U.S., BBC Science and Discovery Networks, U.S. will produce a spectacular large format film version of the BBC's critically acclaimed science series. The film will be co-funded by BBC Worldwide and in association with the Science Museum in London. Currently set to premiere in Spring 2001, the 40 minute film will be Discovery's third and the BBC's first large format film. Directed by Peter Georgi (BBC), written and produced by Richard Dale (BBC) and executive produced by Jaria Bennett, Discovery Networks' U.S. executive in charge of large format films, the BBC Science production team will produce a day in the life of the human body, using the large film format to give viewers even more visually spectacular experiences than in the award-winning television series. It promises to be one of the greatest stories ever told on the biggest screen in the world. Scanning electron microscopy, time-lapse and endoscopic photography, magnetic resonance imaging and macro photographic motion control will show the human body, as it has never been seen before.
